Seize the Birthday # 313-Embossing

Hello Crafters, it's Jenny here, and I'm your Host for this challenge. 

I love to be challenged by techniques, so I've chosen 'Embossing' as the Topping. Any type of Embossing is ok - Dry Embossing, Heat Embossing, or Embossing Paste.

Before we get to the inspiration below, I want to welcome our next Surprise Party Guest.  We have Johanna Rundell joining us for the rest of the year. 

Welcome, Johanna!  We are delighted to have you with us. 

Here is a bit about her:

My name is Johanna Rundell, and I live on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Before retirement, I worked in the hospitality industry and then later ran my own Bed and Breakfast operation. After so many years of crafting, I now consider myself to be reasonably adept. My hubby indulges me and has created an amazing craft room that has a ton of storage space and several stations to work from. He also indulges my penchant for buying new supplies; however, I am generally careful to buy only what I truly need and will actually use. 

My daily life mostly revolves around card making, and these days I am willing to experiment a lot, sometimes with great results and sometimes with some unexpected ones. No matter what, I find card-making immensely satisfying. 

We also have Rachel Ball with us today, who was the overall winner of our last challenge using the Topping.  A big welcome to use as well, Rachel!     

If you're not a toppings kinda person, well...you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes" Birthday!

Hello Crafters, Linda here!

There were so many beautiful and fun cards in the gallery, which made my job so hard. Thank you all for joining in our challenge both with and without my Topping.

How could I not pick Bonnie's card, which has both a butterfly and flowers on it?  My favorites! It is beautifully balanced and so elegant in black and white.

And then Darnell's card is so beautiful.  I love the perfectly water-colored pear and leaves, with the frame reflecting the same colors

Seize the Birthday #312-Black and White

Hello Crafters, this is Linda, and I am happy to be your host for this week's challenge.  I would like you to make a Black & White card.  Please join us and build your birthday stash.  

Before I get to the amazing cards by the DT and guest below, I would like to announce that we have a new Design Team member starting today!  I would like to welcome Nancy Salkeld to the team. Welcome Nance!  We are delighted to have you on board with us! 

Here is a little bit about her! 

Hello!  I am Nance and so thrilled to have been asked to join the Seize The Birthday Team!  I live in Cary, North Carolina, with my ER RN hubs, married for 35 years. I'm Mom to two adult children, "furmom" one dog and two cats and "fur" Ouma to a cat and dog. I have always been artsy/crafty. I was always drawing or gluing something as a child, took painting lessons as a teen and dabbled various types of art. I've been card-making for about 18 years. I've been on several design teams in the last 10 years. My hubs supports my crafty obsession so much he will be my craft assistant when I need help organizing, labeling, or die cutting.  Besides cardmaking, I love reading, board and card games, hiking, horror movies, watching soccer, football, and basketball (boy mom).

I have one more announcement before we get to all the fabulous inspiration below! I also want to thank Karen Letchworth for being such a fabulous Surprise Party Guest the past two months!  We have certainly enjoyed having you with us and look forward to having you back in the gallery again soon.

It's Jules here, and I will be your host for this challenge round of Seize the Birthday.  As host, it is my honor to select the (optional) Topping.  A few months back we were challenged to use flowers in our designs, so I thought the perfect follow-up to this would be NOT to use florals of any sort.  This may be very easy for some but if florals are your "go-to," I challenge you to create a card without them.
